Chapter 27: Hide and seek

Sunday, winter 2010.

Renzo didn’t want a birthday party. He said he would prefer to spend his special day at home with his brothers and not see the house trashed by piles of dirty dishes and cake leftovers. Sometimes I worry if he’s getting a bit neurotic with this organizing habit, but what should I do at his birthday? I couldn’t disrespect my boy’s will on HIS day. So I thanked him for taking care in advance of our house neatness and shipped him to school, promising to make nothing but a lunch for the family.

Thanks for cleaning, dear

Still trying to encourage Renzo to stay more outdoors, I decided to inaugurate our newly built pool area and grill some hamburguers. I used the studio small kitchen to prepare juicy sandwiches with pickles, brown onions and double cheese and started the grill just about 1:30pm. Antonia and Clara arrived a bit earlier, since their Math teacher called in sick and they didn’t have the last class.

Clara was starving and I allowed her to pick a hamburguer before everyone was home. I was hungry myself and we’re both eating and chatting when the boys came home. Tomas was astonished by the pool so, after eating his whole hamburguer with only one bite, he started pushing Maximiliano to play ball with him. They did it untill far in the evening!

Renzo thanked me for the lunch, but grabbed his hamburguer to eat inside the studio. I must stop pushing him outside, it’s useless. Even the telescope he asked as a birthday present didn’t keep him out for many hours: I guess he didn’t realize before that having a telescope would mean staying up late AND OUTSIDE to see the starts. Maybe he hoped me to squeeze it between the dinning table and the kitchen counters so he would be inside glazing the galaxy through the window’s glass…

Anyways, he’s my son and I still love him very much and that’s why when he hided in the studio’s toilet to age, I knocked and joined him with a whistle, a noisemaker and a party hat. Well, it wasn’t a proper celebration, but it was Renzo’s style.

What an interesting aging place! Funny how so many sims love to be in the smallest room in the house (bathroom) all the time.

Yeah, that’s true. And happens since TS1… so I guess it’s a EA programmers inside joke! I even read at the official website that sometimes Sims use the toilet as a chair… to eat! I haven’t seen this animation yet – maybe I have too many chairs at my house… lol – but it would certainly be fun.

      • tipix7 says:

When there are no chairs in your house, they’ll eat on the toilet and if there’s no toilet or chairs, they’ll eat on the edge of the bathtub.

Gizi used to do that for all her meals when she first started (once I finally bought her a toilet).

Hahaha! That’s funny! I didn’t have that… My first acquisitions were a shower and a bench… By the time I did have a fridge – and Brigida started eating full meals instead of fresh fruits only, I already have a table and a chair.

That’s funny! I’ve never seen a birthday in the bathroom, although my sims used to use the toilet as seat when they didn’t have any chairs.

  3. Rad says:

The toilet thing is odd, though. None of my sims have ever done it. The Lazaruses only have one chair between eight, and they just stand if someone’s in that.

Guess yours were the first who got rid of the agoraphobia! *g I could certainly use their genes/psychologist: mine ALWAYS choose to have deep conversations, eat, age… in the bathroom!

      • Rad says:

Oh, mine always get married, flirt, snog, talk, give birth in the bathroom – they’d just never dream of eating there!
